compare credit cards
I have an xbox 360. Last November the disc drive broke, I called in and got the run around I had expected. The thing is that it took them two weeks for them to give me the ability and try and get it fixed (send it in). I sent it in, and it was “fixed” (I suspect that they took miscellaneous parts to fix it, but what company doesn’t?), upon the xbox’s re-arrival I found out that I have a 30 day warranty that comes with it. I call into customer support (my warranty was about to expire) and purchase a new warranty for $24.95, I purchase said warranty and don’t think about it again…

Now my xbox is broken, but they refuse to see it that way. The disc drive is at the point where it is misreading discs (calling games DVDs), and at times flat out not reading the disc. Not only does it have technical problems I can identify, but it also makes a loud noise when I put in a disc ( it makes a THUMP THUMP THUMP when I insert a disc and it is NOT an except able amount of noise).

I call technical support having unplugged it and turned it on and off. The technician led me through those same steps, I followed them to no avail. They have me pop out the hard drive and put it back in… it doesn’t work. They have me take out the hard drive then leave it out… it works! Wait a second though, I can NOT get on LIVE nor can I even save a game. When I addressed this problem they just suggested I play without the hard drive and then sometimes with the hard drive. Well this isn’t acceptable to me, to compare it to something it’s like waking up every morning going to your car and it may or may not start and you may or may not make it to work. That is unacceptable.

They told me to play with the hard drive in and out (switching from time to time)… translation- It will be very touch and go.

This is where things start getting truly tricky. Remember how I said I bought the warranty? They say I never did, I am in the process of reviewing the credit card statements to find this charge for the warranty.

So my question is, “Can I can complain?” I do not mean be irrational. I don’t really know what course of action to take, I feel helpless to this major corporation… surprise I feel cornered by a major corporation… yep America.

HELP ME! SUGGESTIONS NOT THINGS THAT WOULD GET ME NO WHERE, PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IS WELCOMED BUT DO NOT TELL ME TO DITCH MICROSOFT AND HEAD TO SONY (although that is on my mind).
…dig through the ditches essentially?
May I mention that in their eyes the problem is fixed.
I called again, I spoke to a new person. While speaking with the representative I explained to him that it was in fact not practical to always be popping out your hard drive (and it exacts the same way with the hard drive in or out) and they agreed! Things have taken a turn for the worse though it takes a full 5 minutes to get to the dashboard (I timed it).

*sigh* One intellectual victory now actually fixing the hardware battle I’m in.
