We’re signing the papers tonight, but since it’s after business hours they said it won’t go through until tomorrow. Does this make any difference?

I’m closing on a house tomorrow. Will my credit card application that went through today (rejected, btw) affect anything tomorrow? Or is it safe to assume all of the loan stuff is pretty much done, we just have to sign the papers? I have no credit history.

I thought that it was better to pay off and cancel all your credit cards before applying for a morgage. I asked a bank employee this question as I may seek a mortgage next year. She told me that it has changed somewhat. Now, it is to the buyers advantage to have many credit cards, with long history, and zero balances. I’d just like to position myself to the greatest advantage before seeking a mortgage.
I filled out a credit card application at a store that was apparently from October of 2008 and it did not have various rules as the companies current credit card that i got approved for. Like the fact that my payment can be held for 14days after it has already been deducted from my checking account. Even when I got the terms of the card that were sent with it I cannot find anywhere it states that the funds will be held for 14 days. But when I call the bank they are like, this is a standard card and every member agrees to this 14 day hold period. I told them that I don’t see it anywhere on the information I received with my card and she just goes well I can send you what I am looking at now…. Another thing they did was I got approved for $500 dollars on the card, I quickly used it made a few purchases and then I made a payment on the card so that I could make some more purchases (payment was made within 3weeks of opening the account). After they received my first payment they lowered my credit limit to what was left after I made my payment. $306… Is there anything I can do? I don’t want to close the account cause I want them to give me the rewards like I was promised. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

The form asks for my average bank account balance, as well as the name of the bank and the account number. I assume that is so they can verify the information.
I have both a checking and savings account (but there is only space for one account name/number). The balance of the savings account is much higher. Should I add them both up and write that amount, or just write the amount in the checking account?
The average of just one of the accounts? Or the average of both combined? That’s what I’m not sure about.
I seen an ad on tv for a free credit card application. When I got the application the card was attached.I read the form and seen a charge of $249.00 for the attached card. I called the card company and told them I tore the application up and didn’t wish to apply. They in turn put a bad mark on my credit history. Was I slammed by this credit card company? Can I sue them for this?
Bad credit score?

Credit card Query?

A good friend of mine went to a dentist to have her teeth clean and a check up. She is 63 years old, and takes very good care of her teeth.
The dentist said she had pockets and that her gums were infected. This came as a shock, because she had no idea of this problem. The dentist had her sign a credit application. My friend thought it was a pre approval application. After a day or two, she was notified by the dentist secretary that she had been approved for the sum of $3559, which would be the amount the dentist is to charge her. She is on disability, and that was not possible for her to pay that amount in monthly payments. The interest rate is 22% variable.
She called the credit card company and they said the money had been sent to the dentist. She would have to deal with the dentist to have the money sent back. The credit card company said that because she had made an inquiry the day before to their company, her account had been closed.
Now the people at the dental office are not friendly with her and the dentist is not wanting to respond to her questions about the money or procedures.
My friend just wants out of the whole contract that she got pulled into.
The credit card company is not helpful.
How can she get out of the contract with the dentist and have the money returned?
The credit card company has charged her 4%. That would amount to $140, and the dentist has already taken xrays, and an exam. So maybe this has allowed the dentist to complete access to the money advanced to my friends account with the dentist. She feels like she is being held hostage by the dentist to have all this work done, and wants a second opinion from another dentist. Do you have any ideas of how to handle this mess she is in.? Thank you for taking the time.
