I have recently applied for a Citi card online. On the online application it said that I was going to get a response in about 5 to 7 days or if they needed more information then it could be longer. Two days after I applied, I got a message on my answer machine from a lady saying she was calling from Citibank. Something that she needed to verify some information about a transaction they received.
Now, is this normal? Do someone call after applying for a credit card online? Have anyone received a call like this before?
Thank you

Go to this site; it has phone numbers for all the info you could need, incuding help with suspicious calls, etc. This is their actual website.
I would call them, rather than they call you. I don’t EVER give any info over the phone if they call me.

Sometimes, they call with a question about the application. However, the message said that they were calling with a question about “a transaction”. There should not be any “transaction” this soon. Call Citibank at the number on their website (not the number in the telephone message) to verify that this person is really one of their employees and not an identity thief. If Citibank confirms that she works for them, call her. If Citibank says that she is an impostor, call the police.
